Product description
There are two main differences between reverse osmosis and filtration: Ordinary water filters dirt and sediment particles in the water, as small as 1 micron or so, but does not remove dissolved chemicals. Reverse osmosis uses a polymer membrane to filter down to the molecular level, removing dissolved chemicals and salts that ordinary filters cannot remove. With a normal filter, all the water will flow through the filter and particles will accumulate on its surface, eventually clogging the filter. In reverse osmosis filtration, instead of all water flowing through the membrane, the incoming water flows over the surface of the membrane. Pure water passes through the membrane, and as some remaining influent water flows over the membrane surface, it flushes impurities away from the membrane surface and into the drain pipe. This allows the surface of the reverse osmosis membrane to be continuously free of contaminants. This greatly prolongs the service life of reverse osmosis membrane and ensures the purity of filtered water.
