The intake temperature manifold Absolute pressure sensor (TMAP) is the pressure inside the engine's intake manifold (intake manifold). When the engine shuts off, the normal absolute manifold pressure is the same as the air pressure outside the vehicle (atmospheric pressure). Under normal conditions, the actual atmospheric pressure at sea level is usually around 14.7 PSI (29.9 inHg). When the engine is running, the movement of the piston creates a vacuum. The intake manifold vacuum reduced the original atmospheric pressure by about 9.7 PSI (20 inHg), so the intake temperature manifold absolute pressure sensor (TMAP) reading dropped to about 5 PSI (10.1 inHg).
