The Model d injection system detects absolute pressure in the intake manifold behind the throttle. The back of the throttle valve reflects the vacuum and absolute pressure. Under normal pressure condition (standard atmospheric pressure is 101.3kPa), the higher the vacuum degree in the manifold, the lower the absolute pressure in the manifold. The vacuum is equal to the atmospheric pressure minus the absolute pressure in the manifold. The higher the absolute pressure in the manifold, the lower the vacuum in the manifold. The absolute pressure inside the channel is equal to the atmospheric pressure outside the channel minus the vacuum. In other words, atmospheric pressure is equal to the sum of vacuum pressure and absolute pressure.
