Diesel rail pressure sensor is an integral part of vehicle fuel delivery system. Simply put, it sits on a high pressure guide rail between the fuel pump and the injector. (In reality, the chain is much more complex than that, containing other components such as fuel filters, regulators, and a bunch of other sensors). Like any other sensor, diesel pressure sensors have sensing elements and calibration units. The sensing element is usually a tiny dome-shaped diaphragm or bellows that elongates when pressurized fuel passes through it. This elastic or mechanical sensing part is calibrated to the voltage producing element. The element generates a voltage in the induction element corresponding to the elongation. This energy is then amplified in the same proportion to make the voltage detectable.
