What's the filter press?

A filter press is a device used for separating solids and liquids in a slurry or suspension by applying pressure to the mixture through a series of filter plates. The filter plates are covered with a filter cloth that traps the solids while allowing the liquid to pass through. The pressure applied to the mixture forces the liquid out of the slurry and through the filter cloth, leaving behind a cake of solid material. The filter press is commonly used in industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and mining.
