Dupont™ Vespel® polyimide is an extremely high temperature, creep resistant material that is often used in high heat environments where thermoplastic materials would lose their mechanical properties.Ultra high performance plastic based on polyimide. The material has excellent heat resistance and wear resistance. The material is robust and easy to machine.Plavis is also perfectly insulating and has a very stable friction level.
Due to its outstanding individual properties, the material thus occupies the top position of the plastic materials.
The plastic is used to withstand high temperatures and very harsh operating conditions, to save weight, to seal safely and easily or to minimize friction and wear. For example, in industrial electronics, aerospace, machine industry, transportation or the manufacture of solar systems, semiconductors and flat screens.
This product is a good candidate for applications such as CMP retaining rings, test sockets, substrate lift pins or any other application that requires high temperature and/or high wear resistance with low outgassing.

Pi Polyimide Applications
In line with different requirements of the industrial market, Meldin® product family can provide:
- High temperature resistance; intermittently up to 482°C and continous use temperature up to 315°C
- Wide chemical resistance
- Dimensional stability at eleveated temperatures
Pi Polyimide Rod Sheet Industries
Semi finished Polyimide parts are machined to finished parts which are then used in various applications in the
a) automotive industry: thrust washer or piston rings in transmission and pumps replacing tradional metals
b) aero space industry: jet engine parts such as pads, bumpers, seals and bearings
c) industrial machinery: thermal insulators for hot runner nozzles used for injectionn molding of thermoplastic products such as PET-preforms
d) electronic industry: semiconductor manufacturing process equipment with high purity, high resistance to solvents, oils and other chemicals while maintaining a high thermal stability and high electrical insulative properties. Meldin 7001 grade can meet these extreme requirements and is applied in very broad applications.
