Semitron ESd 420 static dissipative PEI is the only true dissipative plastic product for high temperature applications. This material has a unique combination of properties including: static dissipative, low coefficient of expansion, high strength and heat resistance, and is not prone to shedding. ESd 420 has a tensile modulus of 550,000 psi, a heat deflection temperature (at 264 psi) of 420°F, and a surface resistivity of 10 6 to 10 9 ohms/square (W/sq.).

Semitron® ESd 420 is also well suited for equipment that handles components during hard drive manufacturing and assembly. Semitron® ESd 420 also has a low coefficient of thermal expansion, high compressive strength and good wear resistance. Quadrant Semitron® ESd 420 shapes have very low residual stresses, so they can be machined very flat and to very close tolerances. Perhaps most importantly, Semitron® ESd 420 will not shed. Therefore, it does not produce noticeable particles in these handling applications. Wafer combs and other components used to handle sensitive electronic components must be energy-hungry. More importantly, they must be able to discharge static electricity in a controlled manner. Uncontrolled discharge events can result in product damage. Semitron® ESd 420 has a surface resistivity of 10 6 to 10 9 ohms/square, making it ideal for this type of application. Semitron 420 reliably meets all physical performance requirements of wafer combs and other handling components with consistent ESd performance.
