The mechanism includes mass transfer modes such as evaporation-coagulation, lattice diffusion, grain boundary diffusion, and viscous flow. Three major changes typically occur during sintering:
1. Increase in grain size and density;
2. Changes in the shape of the pores;
3. Changes in the size and number of pores usually result in a decrease in porosity.
For dense ceramic materials, the relative density can generally reach more than 98%, while for transparent ceramics, the internal porosity of ceramics after sintering is close to zero. How is ceramic burned? In response to this problem, many people have neglected a link, that is, its previous process: degreasing, simply by heating or other methods to remove organic matter from the ceramic body. Degreasing and sintering are very important thermal processes in the whole process. It can even be said that the sintering is not good, depending on whether the degreasing is complete! Degreasing process is very important. If the control is not good, such as uneven temperature, insufficient degreasing, insufficient degreasing time, etc., it will lead to a series of problems, including pores and micro-cracks, but these problems are from the degreasing furnace. Invisible, must pass through the sintering process, these defects will be exposed, but it is too late, because the sintering process is irreversible. Especially in mass production, the requirement for degreasing is very high.
