Network loop editing

Ethernet is a bus or star structure and cannot form a loop, otherwise it will produce two serious consequences:

NT-IN114 series is quad-port 10/100Base-TX to single-port 100Base-FX Industrial Fast Ethernet Media Converter with single fiber port and double copper ports. 

(1) A broadcast storm occurs, causing network congestion.

The converters are able to extend transmission distance of network up to 120Km via fiber port, and the UTP port can operate at 10M or 100M application.

(2) The cloned frame will appear in each port, causing address learning (recording frame source address) chaos.
Solutions to solve loop problems:

NT-IN114 series is packaged in a compact IP40 case that allows either DIN rail or panel mounting for efficient usage of cabinet space. 

(1) When designing the network, artificially avoid loops.

It provides an integrated power supply with a wide range of voltages for worldwide operation. It also offers dual-redundant, reversible polarity 12V DC to 48V DC power supply inputs for high availability applications requiring dual or backup power inputs.

(2) Use the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) function to cut a looped network into a loopless network.
STP is standardized by the IEEE802 as the 802.1d standard.

NT-IN114 series is complied with IEEE 802.3at High Power over Ethernet technology (optional). It is backward compatible with 802.3af PoE standards to allow users flexibly deploy standard and high powered devices simultaneously with no need of software configuration. With Data and Power over Ethernet from one unit, NT-IN114 series can reduce cables deployment and eliminate the need for dedicated electrical outlets on the wall, ceiling or any unreachable place.
